Data retention

Where it says "while your account is open", the information is deleted when your account is deleted. We have not yet built automatic deletion for every kind of older information, and say so below. For information your association holds about you, the association sets the period in its own policy.
How long we keep things

| Account details | While your account is open. Deletion is completed within 30 days of your request. |
| Clips, photos, comments, cheers, follows | Until you delete them or your account. Clips we take down are deleted 90 days later unless a report about them is still open. |
| Your interest list | Fades over about two weeks of not using twirlr; deleted with your account. |
| Per-clip totals (views, finishes, shares) | While the clip exists. They hold no viewer names. |
| Clips you have already seen | On your phone only. |
| App opens and crash reports | While your account is open (no automatic deletion yet). |
| Notifications and push tokens | While your account is open. A push token is removed when you sign out or it stops working. |
| Near you position | Until you turn Near you off, which clears it. |
| Town from your connection (adults) | Replaced at most once a day; deleted with your account. |
| Find friends | The scrambled contact details your phone sends are used to look for matches and are not kept. We keep a count of how many searches you made, to stop misuse. |
| Messages to your troupe leader, association or safeguarding officer | Set by the association (no automatic deletion yet). |
| Membership, entries and family details | Set by the association (no automatic deletion yet). |
| Competition results and awards | Kept as part of the association’s record. |
| Invoices and payments | 6 years, for tax law. |
| Safeguarding records | As the association’s safeguarding policy requires; for children usually 25 years or until the person is 25. |
| Polly conversations (association staff) | Deleted after 12 months without use. |
| Records of staff actions in the console | No automatic deletion yet. |
| Requests to delete an account or see your data | Kept as a record that we dealt with them. |
