How your feed works
Version 1.0 · last updated 4 October 2026
The short version
For you shows clips we think you will enjoy, from your association and, where allowed, from other associations. Following shows the newest clips from people you follow.
What we look at
- What you do on purpose: who you follow, what you cheer, share, save or comment on, and what you mark Not interested or hide.
- For adults: how you watch, such as finishing or rewatching a clip, or skipping it quickly. Not for under 18s in the UK.
- How a clip does with everyone: how often it is finished, shared or marked Not interested.
- How new a clip is.
Safety first
Before anything is ranked, clips you are not allowed to see, removed or reported clips, and accounts you have blocked are taken out. A Not interested or a report counts far more than a cheer.
How clips grow
A new clip is shown to a small group first. If people finish and share it, it is shown to more, in stages, up to all of twirlr. Paying for twirlr Pro never changes how far a clip reaches. Associations and twirlr can feature a clip, and featured clips always say who featured them.
Your controls
- Not interested and Hide clips from (long-press any clip).
- Settings, Privacy, Your feed: turn Personalised feed off to see the newest clips first.
- Settings, Video and data, Break reminders.
The code
We plan to publish the ranking rules as open code so anyone can check them. Safety filters will not be published, so they cannot be dodged.
